Der Mond Group, through its subsidiary Der Mond Oil and Gas, has invested in the development of a training academy with the aim of creating employability and the development of skills and competency for the benefit of Senegalese- individuals and Senegalese-based companies.

This project is a joint-venture between Der Mond OiL and Gas and Techma IOTA, a company renowned for its training provision throughout the world especially within the Oil and Gas sector by providing Health, Safety and Environment courses in addition to the provision of Emergency Response Management.

The first phase of the investment is concentrated in Senegal, recognising that in the future the region will represent a dynamic hub within the petroleum and gas production sector from upstream to the downstream.

The challenge is to provide highly qualified personnel to satisfy the demands of the new energy industry and to include the Senegalese in the new emerging market as His Excellency the President Macky Sall’s moto always highlight: « la voie de l’emergence ».

The first course on Health and Safety at work is set to begin in early July .

HABC Level 2 International Award in Fire Safety.
This qualification has been developed for anyone involved in the management of fire safety in the workplace. This could include managers, supervisors, team leaders, fire wardens (marshals) and staff working in any area where there is a potential risk of fire. This course provides the knowledge and understanding of basic fire safety principles and addresses the technical, legislative and practical skills required to provide a sound foundation for further learning.

Fire Warden– 1 day course
The aim of this course is to assist the employer in meeting the legal requirements to ensure the protection of workers in serious and imminent danger (such as in the event of fire) by having a sufficient number of competent persons to implement the established procedures.



Fire Marshall– 1 day course
The aim of this course is to train personnel to carry out specific duties in the case of fire to ensure the employer can meet international legal requirements. Duties may include organising evacuations, fire drills and the use of portable fire-fighting equipment.



Basic Fire Awareness– Half day course
The aim of this course is to provide selected workers with the ability to utilize the firefighting means at their disposal, after having recognized the type of fire at hand and after having assessed that it is safe to take remedial action.
